Body enhancing drugs are a very controversial issue that started a very long time ago, even tracking all the way back Greece during the 1904 Olympic Games. By the 1920's it had appeared that there needed to be rules against doping. In 1928 the IAAF became the first International Sport Federation to ban doping. Most IFs introduced drug testing by the 1970s, and by 1974 all uses of anabolic steroids were being caught. This was only the start too doping though because some people found a way to get past the tests.
Soon there came some problems too stoping the doping problem. While the fight against stimulants and steroids was producing results, the main front in the anti-doping war was rapidly shifting to blood doping. "Blood boosting." This completely slowed down the process of stoping doping. In 1998 a large number of prohibited medical substances were found by police in a raid during the Tour de France. The scandal led to a major reappraisal of the role of public authorities in anti-doping affairs. As early as 1963, France had been the first country to enact anti-doping legislation. This is how the past decade has changed doping and people are still coming with new ways to cheat drug tests.

Maze Runner By James Dashner Novel Response
Recently I have read the book called "The Maze Runner". I haven't read much of this book, but the teenager named Tomas is very believable. He has so many emotions a lot like of other teenagers. He also has this feeling of determination of becoming a "runner", he never stops thinking about how hard he will have to work to become a "runner". Him and all of the other kids in the "box" are a lot like him showing that they are all believable teenagers. At one point in this book a girl arrives and Tomas instantly feels a love connection to her. So I've figured that Tomas is a very believable teenager

"Miss Representation" Responce
I thought this movie was well made and completely true. The only problem I had with this film was that it was very repetitive. I found that It said the same message over and over, but it made a great point about women being treated differently in the media. I have noticed that it is not only in the media that women are treated differently, during sports men have higher standards than women, meaning that people expect more from men than women during sports, politics and media. In men's volleyball the net hight is 7"11 but in women's volleyball the net is at a hight of 7"4.http://fueledbydietcoke.com/2011/03/25/fake-perfection/

Sarcasm In "Miss Representation"
During this past week we have watched a movie called miss representation. This film was about women and how they have been used as these kind of marketing objects in the advertising world. We were looking for devices like tone and irony. Me and my partner got sarcasm as our device. I only only found one representation of sarcasm. Sarcasm is when something is said but not meant to be taken literally. The one sentence in this hole movie was when the narrator said "and they replaced her with Drew Carry, because he's so fit". They used sarcasm to prove a point in this movie that women still aren't treated with respect like men are.

Carrot Care Plan
Carrots:
Conor and Alden
Planting times (Conor):
We will plant our carrots on the date of May 13. We will directly sow in April to mid-July for harvests from July to November. Sow at 3 week intervals for a continuous harvest. We will sow the plants from April to mid July. We are hoping that we will harvest the plants in July to November so that we can have salads ready for the new class year.
Water amount and how often to water (Conor):
We will water the plants multiple times per day so that the soil stays moist because it will dry up in the sunlight. Usually the amount of water that the carrot needs per day is half a litre a day
How much sunlight does it need (Alden)
The carrots have to be in sunlight for 6-8 hours a day so we will probable plant them inside the green house.Optimal soil temperature: 7-30°C they take 14-21 days to germinate. Soil sandy and free of stones. Plant seeds close to the surface, no more that ¼” or ½” deep types of containers that should be used are recommended at 10- 12 inches deep.
Pests and diseases (Alden)
The carrot rust fly
are attracted to the smell of the bruised leaves, so it is best to wash them right after harvesting. To prevent them from attacking, you must never leave carrots lying around after thinning or harvestingsources:

Gas Consumption Model
In the NLC classroom me and two other classmates, Hudson and Tyson, on a model for over consumption this is a picture of what we made. What we made was a giant pyramid made out of 55 pop cans. In front of our pyramid we have 6 bottles of water with food colouring in it to make the water in the bottle look like oil. While making this model I think that that I showed creativity and critical thinking while making this model because we had a few problems along the way because at first we were going to make a pyramid made out of gas jugs but it was to hard to track down all of the gas jugs because it would use 14 gas jugs. We had to think critically as a group and communicate a lot. And we finally came up with a plan to make it out of something that was smaller and was also something that looked a little bit like gas can used for something. We decided pop cans because they look a little bit like fuel cans that aeroplanes use to fuel up before a flight.
